MODELLA/Group is a retail business organization based in Santiago de Chile, working in the apparel industry.
The company has over 50 years in the market, having having managed brands such as Christian Dior, Oscar de la Renta, Gucci, and Cacharel. It continues its mission of dressing its clients in style for today’s world. Currently, it manages world-renowned brands such as Trial, Perry Ellis, Florsheim, Versace, Hugo Boss, and Mavianni, among others.
Modella/Group manages 53 boutiques and 8 outlet locations of its own in Chile, 120 direct and indirect points of sale, and 7 franchise boutiques in South America. It is developing operations in different countries of the region and has ongoing business with Europe and the Far East.
The brand mix managed by Modella/Group is focused primarily on men’s clothing and, secondly, on women’s clothing and accessories.
Modella/Group wanted to optimize its business processes, achieve higher levels of inventory visibility, and ensure product availability in its stores to provide its customers with a better shopping experience.
After assessing how RFID technology is changing the retail market and generating significant competitive advantages for international brands such as Zara, Target, and H&M, the company decided to implement the Smart Retail solution by Telectrónica (www.telectronica.com).
Smart Retail is a software platform that allows managing all supply chain processes through RFID automatic identification and data capture. It integrates with the software platforms used by the client.
After its implementation, all products manufactured in Chile by Modella/Group and sourced from foreign suppliers will be identified with an RFID tag at manufacturing.
This identification will then be read at each stages of the distribution chain until they reach the stores.
In this way, Modella/Group will be able to control efficiently and quickly that all products received and dispatched, both at its distribution center and its stores, are free of errors. This will bring reliable, real-time knowledge of product availability and location eliminating stock- out errors and providing an integrated view of the stock, ultimately , helping meet any customer requirement, either at the store where they choose to buy and collect their products or through e-commerce.

For an in-depth exploration of the benefits of RFID technology, we attended NRF, the top retail fair in the United States, to identify potential solutions providers oriented to our business.
There, we learned about Telectrónica’s approach and its “Smart Retail” solution based on RFID technology from Zebra Technologies.
Due to the interest it generated, we decided to visit the successful deployments of Smart Retail in Argentina. This experience and the feedback we obtained from users resulted in the implementation of RFID technology within Modella in 2019 and becoming the first retailer in Chile’s fashion industry to use it.
